This is the 300 gallon water tank I installed in my back yard to catch rainwater off my roof.  Just 1 inch of rain fills the tank.  I hooked up a water hose to the outlet valve on the tank, and with gravity alone, can easily water my dahlias with it.

The advantages of this are:

*  Saves purified water, an increasingly precious resource.

*  Saves money. In just 3 weeks I have used two full tanks of water. Assume, conservatively, that in a full year an average gardener like me uses 20 tanks of captured rainwater instead of an equivalent amount of city water.  That's 6000 gallons, or 800 cubic feet of water free. City water currently costs $9.60 per 100 cubic feet.  In one year that's a savings of  $76.80.

*  Untreated rain water is healthier for your plants than clorinated water.

I will gladly provide more info on how to obtain and install one of these tanks.  Email me at ehrett@bellsouth.net
